Equipment

  • 1 large skillet non-stick preferred
  • 1 spatula
  • 1 zester for lemon zest

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 cup capers drained
  • 2 lemons juiced
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Preparation

  • Pat dry the salmon fillets with paper towels and season with salt and pepper on both sides.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Place salmon fillets skin-side down in the skillet. Sear for 4-5 minutes until golden brown. Flip and cook for another 4-5 minutes. Remove from skillet.
  • In the same skillet, add butter and garlic. Cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  • Stir in capers and lemon juice. Simmer for 1-2 minutes until slightly reduced.
  • Place salmon back into the skillet and spoon sauce over the fillets.

Serving

  • Serve hot, garnished with lemon slices and fresh herbs if desired.

Storage

  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

Notes

Pro Tips: Ensure the skillet is hot before adding the salmon for a crispy sear. Be careful with salt as capers add natural saltiness.
Ingredient Substitutions: Lime can be used in place of lemon for a different flavor. Use cilantro instead of parsley for a unique twist.
How to Serve: Pair with roasted vegetables or a side salad for a complete meal.
Storage & Freshness: Store in the fridge and consume within 2 days for best freshness.
Make-Ahead Tips: Prepare the sauce in advance and store it separately; reheat with the salmon before serving.
