Equipment

  • 1 grill preheated to medium-high
  • 1 fish spatula
  • 1 mixing bowl

Ingredients

Fish

  • 1 lb firm white fish mahi-mahi, cod, or halibut
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Toppings

  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1 avocado sliced
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 lime cut into wedges
  • 8 small corn tortillas

Instructions

Preparation

  • Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels. In a bowl, mix olive oil, lime juice, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Coat the fish with the marinade and let it sit for 15 minutes.
  • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat and ensure the grates are clean and lightly oiled to prevent sticking.
  • While the fish marinates, prepare the toppings by shredding the cabbage, slicing the avocado, and chopping the cilantro.

Cooking

  • Place the fish on the grill and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side until it is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
  • Briefly warm the tortillas on the grill for about 30 seconds on each side until they are pliable.

Serving

  • Flake the grilled fish into bite-sized pieces. Place the fish in each tortilla and top with cabbage, avocado, cilantro, and a squeeze of lime.

Storage

  • Store any leftover fish in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat gently before serving.
